Shinto Prayers

A collection of prayers and religious scriptures from the Shinto Religion.

Shinto is also called “kami-no-michi”, and is a religion having much to do with nature. Shinto is polytheistic with a belief in what is referred to as “Kami’s”. Kami’s are believed to inhabit all things and are supernatural spirits. Practitioners of Shinto build household shrines to the Kami called “Kamidana” and public shrines called “Jinja” where the spirits are worshipped and honored. Priests of the Jinja are titled “Kannushi”, and they make offerings to the Kami. Shinto is involved on a local and regional form, it is diverse and not exactly the same every place it is practiced.

There are an estimated 4 million Shintoist’s world wide. (2021)
